Made in Canada! Yes, Labradorite was first discovered on St. Paul Island, Labrador, Canada in 1770. An Eskimo legend tells of a warrior who found the Northern Lights imprisoned in the rocks along the coast of Labrador. He was able to free most of the lights with one mighty blow of his spear, but some of the lights were still trapped in the rock. And so today we are left with beautiful stone, labradorite.
This stone has a beautiful shimmer or 'fire' when it catches the light. It is said to bring synchronicity and help recharge energy, while protecting from negativity. This stone is the colour of summer this year! Crysophrase has a beautiful opalescent apple green colour derived from the nickel content in the stone. Legend tells that Chrysophrase will aid and hasten healing of physical wounds by holding it over a wound and keeping close while sleeping. It vibrates with the heart chakra and promotes joy, happiness and love while fostering acceptance. It may help to dispell bad dreams and bring prosperity.
Carnelian is one of my all time favourites! It's your 'get things done' stone. Carnelian vibrates with the sacral chakra, below the navel. it can be very grounding, while strengthening confidence, courage, motivation and ambition. And it is a beautiful, bold, fiery orange colour!
Blue Lace Agate is a Chalcedony stone who's name comes from the lacy bands of white that run through the pale blue stone. It is known to promote communication and can bring a sense of tranquility as it helps to alleviate anger stress and tension.
The meaning of this crystal's name derives from the Latin, meaning 'water of the sea'. Aquamarine is said to bring courage, and sooth conflicts. It can help you to let go of old emotional issues you may be holding on to. By assisting you to release anger and reduce stress...it may help you to make positive changes in your life. Aquamarine is a symbol of happiness and everlasting youth.
Amethyst is a crystalline quartz in shades of purple. Of the many stones I work with, it is one that is found right here in Ontario. It has a calming energy that quiets the mind and promotes restfull sleep, simple thing that improves all aspects of our health. Traditionally it was worn to guard against drunkenness and help overcome addictions.
Birthstone for February Abalone is the name for any of a group of small to very large edible sea snails or molluscs, so I suppose the first stone of the week is actually a shell. The next 11 are semi-precious stones I assure you. That said, abalone is beautiful with colours ranging from green to blue and purple. It is said to calm emotions, promote honesty and cooperation.
